Let's Go Team!

What does it look like when an entire community decides to stop watching from the sidelines and actually get in the game? The story of Nehemiah gives us one of the most powerful pictures in all of Scripture of what happens when every person plays their part. Nehemiah was not from Jerusalem. He had a comfortable position, a trusted role, and every reason to stay where he was. But when he heard about the broken walls and the discouraged people, something broke open inside of him. He wept. He fasted. He prayed. And before God ever used his hands, God captured his heart. That sequence matters deeply for us. The burden always comes before the assignment. When God lays something on our hearts that we simply cannot shake, it is often because he is preparing us for something we have not yet stepped into. Nehemiah did not rush ahead in his own strength. He prayed first, confessed honestly, and reminded himself of who God is before he ever asked for what he needed. Then he moved. And when he gathered the people and said, come, let us build, it was never a one-man project. Every family, every priest, every ruler had a section of the wall to repair. Nobody had to build the whole thing alone. They simply had to be faithful to their section. That is the invitation extended to us today, to find our section, show up, and build.
